[STRAVA INTEGRATION] Northing connects to Strava and performs a post-hoc GPS audit of your completed activities. Summit arrivals at Munros, Wainwrights, and Marilyns are verified from existing Strava data. No real-time tracking.
01. How the Strava Connection Works

Authorise Northing via Strava's OAuth flow. Northing requests read-only access to your activity data. No write permissions are requested.
[02 IMPORT]
Northing imports your activity history. The GPS coordinate track from each activity is read and queued for summit audit.
[03 VERIFY]
Each activity is cross-referenced against all supported summit positions. Verified ascents are written to your ledger with date and activity source.
02. What Northing Reads from Strava
- [GPS TRACK] The raw coordinate stream from each activity. This is used to determine whether your route passed within 200 metres of a summit position.
- [ACTIVITY DATE] The date and time of the activity, recorded in the verification ledger.
- [ACTIVITY TYPE] Used to filter relevant activities. Walking, hiking, and running activity types are processed.
03. What Northing Does Not Do
- [NO WRITE ACCESS] Northing does not post to Strava, create segments, add kudos, or modify your Strava account in any way.
- [NO REAL-TIME TRACKING] Northing does not access your location in real time. It processes completed activities only.
- [NO SOCIAL LAYER] Northing has no public profile, no leaderboard, and no feed. Your verified summits are visible only to you.
- [NO ROUTES] Northing does not generate, suggest, or display routes. It records where you have been, not where you should go.
04. Privacy
[DATA USE] GPS data imported from Strava is used solely for summit verification. It is not sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
[ENCRYPTION] Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).
[DISCONNECTION] You can revoke Northing's Strava access at any time via your Strava account settings under My Apps.

Does Northing post anything to Strava?
No. Northing reads activity data from Strava. It does not write to your Strava account, post kudos, create segments, or interact with your Strava profile in any way.
Does Northing track me in real time?
No. Northing is a post-hoc tool. It audits completed activities that already exist in your Strava account. It does not access your location in real time.
Will Northing process all my existing Strava activities?
Archive tier subscribers receive full historical synchronisation of eligible activity history. Registry tier provides a 1-month historical window from first sync baseline, then real-time synchronisation for all future activities.
Can I use Northing without Strava?
Yes. Northing also accepts GPX and FIT file uploads directly. Strava is one of three supported data sources.
How do I disconnect Strava from Northing?
Revoke access via your Strava account settings under My Apps. You can also disconnect from within the Northing app.
